Dog and Cat Bill to be debated

The Dog and Cat Management (Miscellaneous) Amendment Bill 2015 is due to be debated today in Parliament.

On the 18 November 2015 the Dog and Cat Management (Miscellaneous) Amendment Bill 2015 was introduced by Minister Hunter into Parliament.  

The Bill contains provisions for:

  • Mandatory Desexing of Dogs and Cats
  • Mandatory Microchipping of Dogs and Cats
  • Breeder Registration
  • Increased penalties and fines
  • Increased powers for Authorised Officers

Exemptions and the age requirements for desexing and microchipping will be contained within the Regulations which will be developed once the Act is passed.
